“A friendship, a furniture store, and a jungle patterned dresser help two women realise the value of following their dreams”
Sur Place (French trans. “On the spot”) explores female friendship through metaphor and visual language, expressed through items in a furniture store which symbolise people’s hopes and dreams. Sur Place was made in partnership with Hobsons Bay City Council to secure beachside filming locations, while the rest of the film was shot with the kind support of Smith Street Bazaar Antique Furniture Store. The film was shot mostly at night during the hours of 10pm to 8am to accommodate store trading hours, involving a rigorous set dress and re-dress during each day of filming and liaising with nearby private property owners about film scheduling.
